Sinusitis

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is an inflammation or swelling of the tissue lining the sinuses. Healthy sinuses are filled with air. But when they become blocked and filled with fluid, germs can grow and cause an infection.

Types:

  • Acute sinusitis: feels like a cold (runny, stuffy nose and facial pain). It may start suddenly and last 2-4 weeks.
  • Subacute sinusitis: lasts 4 to 12 weeks.
  • Chronic sinusitis: symptoms last 12 weeks or longer.
  • Recurrent sinusitis: happens several times a year.

Common symptoms of sinus infection include:

  • Postnasal drip
  • Discoloured nasal discharge (greenish in colour)
  • Nasal stuffiness or congestion
  • Tenderness of the face under the eyes/at the bridge of the nose)
  • Frontal headaches
  • Pain in the teeth
  • Coughing
  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Bad breath

I went for sinus operation in 2016 January to remove pullups on my sinuses. Since then I have been suffering nasal drip that sits on my chest sometime the mucus closes my voice. My nose is always dry and bleeding, I have to use salex to wash my sinuses every morning and evening. My sinuses generate lot of mucus and I cannot blow my nose because of bleeding and dryness. Now lately I cannot hear properly because my ears are closed from inside.

Is there a medicine that you can recommend. The hearing issue is really a problem even at work

I have a lot of post nasal drip at night and I am convinced that is what causes me to snore. At times I feel like I am drowning. I am not conscious of the drip during the day.
This has been going on for years. OTC post nasal drip sprays do nothing.
    Please advise?
